[Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner receives recognition]
[Greenville, SC , May 10th ] With Nurses Week coming to an end, the University of South Carolina, College of Nursing, is honoring Steven Krozer, CEO and Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC), with the 2018 Excellence in Preceptorship Award. This year’s Nurses Week theme 2018 (May 6-12) is "Nurses: Inspire, Innovate, Influence" and Steven has done exactly that for both clients and students seeking his guidance. Throughout the year, several psychiatric nurse practitioner students have worked under his supervision at iTrust Wellness Group, LLC, a mental health practice in Greenville, SC.
The Excellence in Preceptorship Award is a prestigious award recognizing a preceptors' commitment to excellence and outstanding contributions to the educational development. The role of the preceptor is to provide guidance to a student entering the practice setting by creating a positive learning environment in which the student can expand his/her knowledge and skills to successfully integrate mental health nursing theory and medication management into practice.
Steven was nominated by Roxanne Singer-Gheorghiu, a student Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) with over 20 years of experience in the medical field. She worked under his supervision while completing her specialization in mental health.
“Steven Krozer exemplifies ethical, evidence based-patient centered practice in all of his interactions with patients and students. He discusses the case prior to the patient arrival, observes your skill and technique with the patient. He then has you present and requires rationale for every interaction. He has truly gone well beyond what any other preceptors I’ve ever had to ensure an educational enriching experience. He actually appears to enjoy questions and seeks that as an opportunity to problem-solve together. He is truly brilliant, humble, and meets each student and patient where they are and supports them with their goals and aspirations”
Steven is a mental health psychiatric nurse practitioner treating adult and children. _____ Steven’s zest for adventure and passion for helping others led him to working in mental health. While biking across the country for a mental health charity, Steven decided he wanted to open his own practice after completing his Masters of Nursing Degree at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. Steve says the most satisfying part of being a preceptor is, “Learning what motivates each student to step into the sensitive arena of mental health is fascinating to me. Our profession is delicate and intricate and I thoroughly enjoy being a part of the journey as they learn the art of psychopharmacology and medication management. It amazes me the growth students can have in a short period of time as they realize the difference we can make in a client’s life if we listen and develop the proper treatment plan.”
iTrust Wellness Group is a mental health clinic that prides itself on providing ethical psychiatric treatment and medication management services for clients of all ages in Greenville, SC.
